A large colony of macaques live in the Sacred Monkey Forest, an unexpectedly lush, quiet haven tucked just off the main street. Towering banyans drip their rope-like roots into steep ravines, and weave their tangle of roots into sturdy bridges for the monkeys to play on. Monkeys lounge and groom each other, or practice their cannonballs and water wrestling in the small ponds, or steal entire bags of bananas from unwitting tourists. Endlessly entertaining.
